The Last Poem

This is the last poem I will write for you These words penned a sketch of unrequited longing For a lover missing in action far, far away Yet right next to me Peacefully in slumber

This is the last song I will sing for you A melancholy melody of sweetness and rhyme, A syncopated madness gone stale With too much familiarity The specialness forsaken

These will be the last verses for you For all the lovely memories we have made Shoved into a box and put on a shelf Into the annals of our shared past Away from any future making
