These withered old hands Held her for the first time at 19 And she at 18 and married Her at 19

These hands embraced her In those old times so long ago And weathered the times apart And the times too much together

These hands combed her hair Held her when love was made And life was created Kicking and screaming into the world

These shaky hands held her’s When she was crying And trying so hard To build so much from so little

These old hands have been Next to her head and her heart Through the decades into The here and the now

These hands have helped The kids move out The grandkids grow up With so much love

These withered old hands Still holding Joanna’s Sweetly married at 19 And loved forever
